SHORT NOTICE

Moving Sooner Than You Planned?

Short-notice moving help may be available, subject to availability. Call us and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Not every move is planned months ahead. A hospital discharge brings a date forward, a suite becomes available unexpectedly, a closing moves, a lease ends, a family situation changes.

We hold no magic capacity and we will not promise a timeframe we cannot control. What we can do is answer the phone, look at the calendar honestly, and tell you quickly whether we can help — and if we cannot, say so rather than string you along.

What Makes a Short-Notice Move Possible

The moves we can most often fit in at short notice are the ones we specialise in anyway: small. An apartment, a suite, a few rooms, a furniture move, a partial move that gets someone living somewhere by the weekend.

  • A smaller volume — a suite or an apartment rather than a whole house
  • Flexibility on the day of the week and the start time
  • Access that is already understood, so no time is lost working it out
  • Packing already done, or only the essentials needing to be packed
  • A willingness to move what makes the new place liveable first

Call Rather Than Email

On a short-notice move the calendar changes hour by hour, and a form sitting in an inbox is the slowest route to an answer. Phone 519-502-7832 and describe the situation.

Have ready: both addresses, the date you need, roughly what is being moved, and anything about access — stairs, elevator, parking — that you already know.

If We Cannot Do It

We will tell you plainly rather than take a booking we cannot serve properly. A mover who says yes to a date they cannot keep does far more damage on a short-notice move than one who says no on the phone.

Where it helps, we will tell you what we would do in your position — including moving only what is essential now and dealing with the rest later.

Short Notice and Senior Moves

A great many short-notice calls we take are senior moves following a hospital stay or a suite becoming available. Those are exactly the moves we are built for, and the priority is usually getting the suite liveable — bed, chair, essentials, working television — rather than moving everything at once.

The rest of the house can then be downsized and cleared at a sensible pace instead of in a panic.

Have This Ready When You Call

  • Both addresses, and the date you need
  • Roughly what is moving — rooms, or a list of large items
  • Stairs, elevator or parking constraints at either end
  • Any move-in window a residence or building has set
  • Whether packing is done, partly done or not started
  • What genuinely has to arrive on the first day, if not everything can

Questions Families Ask Us

Can you move us this week?

Possibly — it depends entirely on what is free and how big the move is. Call and we will look at the calendar with you. We will not promise a timeframe we cannot control, and we will tell you straight away if the answer is no.

Is short-notice moving more expensive?

Our rates are our rates; there is no separate short-notice surcharge invented for urgency. What can change the cost is the practical reality — a less efficient day, a bigger crew to fit a window, or extra work because packing has not been done. All of it goes in the written quote before you commit.

Can you do part of the move now and part later?

Often that is the best answer. Move what makes the new place liveable now, then deal with the rest of the house without a deadline hanging over it. On senior moves after a hospital stay this is usually what we recommend.

What if we do not know exactly what is moving yet?

Call anyway and describe it in rooms. We can work from photos sent from a phone in a few minutes, which is quicker and more accurate than trying to list everything from memory.

Short notice is easier to answer on the phone than in writing. Tell us the date and the situation and we will look at what is free.
