HOME ASSISTANCE

Practical Home Assistance, by the Hour

The heavy, the high, the awkward and the repetitive — done by people who are used to working in somebody else's home.

Most of what stops people managing a house on their own is not dramatic. It is the storage boxes that now live too high up, the furniture that cannot be shifted to vacuum behind, the seasonal changeover that used to take an afternoon and now takes a week of worrying about it.

Home assistance is Stallion by the hour for exactly that. You tell us what has been waiting, we work through as much of it as the time allows, and we tell you honestly if something on your list is not ours to do.

What People Actually Ask Us For

The live list further down this page is the real one, maintained by the office rather than written into the website. These are the patterns behind it.

  • Moving furniture so a room works better, or so a cleaner can get behind it
  • Bringing things down from — or putting things back up into — attics, lofts and high cupboards
  • Seasonal jobs: patio furniture in and out, storage rotated, the garage made walkable again
  • Carrying, lifting and loading that is no longer sensible to do alone
  • Rearranging a room after a hospital stay so it is easier to get around
  • Sorting a space that has quietly filled up, at whatever pace suits you

How a Visit Works

  • You describe the list on the phone or by email — rough is fine
  • We tell you what is in scope, what is not, and roughly how long it is likely to take
  • We book a window and turn up in it
  • We work through the list in the order you care about most, not the order that is easiest
  • Anything left over gets written down, so the next visit starts where this one stopped

What's Included

Charged by the hour, at the rates published on the seniors pricing page.
  • A team member who has worked in senior households before
  • The lifting, carrying and moving the job needs
  • Basic tools for non-structural work
  • Tidying up and taking our own mess away
  • A plain summary of anything we could not finish and why

  • Personal care, medication help, bathing, dressing or any nursing task
  • Companionship or supervision visits
  • Housekeeping, deep cleaning or laundry services
  • Regulated trade work — electrical, plumbing, gas or structural
  • Anything needing an appropriately qualified or licensed installer
  • Medical advice, or an assessment of what someone can safely manage

What This Costs

Hourly support with no hidden fees, published before you call. Moving and downsizing is quoted per job, because a move has too many variables for one hourly figure to be honest about.

Ask Us About a Job, Not a Move

What Families Tell Us

Brett and his team are always professional and caring, I feel as if they would treat each person they help move as their own Grandparent. They respect guidelines surrounding move times for our building, and make sure each piece they move is treated with care and concern.

I had Stallion Movers today to move my dad from his home to a retirement home and am so pleased with their professionalism, punctuality and friendliness. Brett and Mitch were so careful getting around the items that weren't being moved. They were very thorough and moved quickly. Also Wendy in their office was extremely helpful and patient with all my questions and emails. I highly recommend them for any service you need that they provide. They came highly recommended so I didn't even get other quotes and that was the right decision. Thank you!

Wow. Excellent service, clean, professional, timely etc. We needed to move my mother to a senior's residence and her stuff. The residence recommended 2 services and I elected Stallion - possibly (likely) the other may be as good but Stallion were exceptional. I would highly recommend them for any move not just a senior transfer...

Great company, prompt and professional. I have used Stallion Movers twice to move my parents into retirement residences. They are professional, and super easy to deal with and understand and respect the protocols with senior residences. I highly recommend them.

Questions Families Ask Us

Is there a minimum length of visit?

Yes — visits are booked and charged from the first hour, with additional time by the hour after that. The current figures are on the seniors pricing page, which reads straight from our rate table rather than from copy somebody typed once.

Can a family member book this from another city?

Very often that is exactly who books it. We will talk to whoever is coordinating, keep them in the loop, and take direction on the day from the person whose home it is.

What if the thing I need is not on your list?

Ask. The list on this site is what we are set up to do routinely, not the limit of what we will consider. If it is something we cannot do — or should not do, because it needs a licensed trade or a regulated professional — we will say so plainly and, where we can, point you at someone who does it properly.

Which areas do you cover for seniors services?

Waterloo Region — Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge — plus Guelph and the surrounding townships. Further out is often still possible for moving work; for short hourly visits, distance matters more, so it is worth a phone call.

Tell Us What Has Been Waiting.

Read out the list. We will tell you what we can take off it, what we cannot, and what an hour or two would realistically cover.
