Cambridge is a city of about 138,000 people (2021 Census) formed from the former towns of Galt, Preston and Hespeler, along with Blair. Each area still has its own older core, with newer neighbourhoods built between and around them, and the Grand and Speed rivers run through the city. Highways 401, 8 and 24 connect it to the rest of the region and beyond.

Galt, Preston and Hespeler: Planning a Cambridge Move
Galt, the largest of Cambridge’s original towns, has a historic core along the Grand River with stone and brick buildings, older detached homes on hilly streets, and apartments above storefronts. Tight stairways, short or shared driveways and steep grades are the details that shape a move there.
Preston grew up around King Street near where the Speed and Grand rivers meet. Its older streets mix modest detached homes, walk-up apartment buildings and small infill projects. Hespeler Village, in the north of the city, has its own compact core of older homes, with newer subdivisions spreading out around it towards Highway 401.
Between and beyond the three original towns, newer neighbourhoods of detached houses and townhouse complexes make up much of today’s Cambridge. A senior move here often means leaving a home in one of the older cores after many decades, sometimes to a condo, a retirement residence or a family member’s home elsewhere in the region.

Many Cambridge senior moves begin in a home the family has lived in for a very long time. Sorting decades of belongings is emotional as well as physical work, and we never rush it.
We plan the sequence, help decide what fits the new space, pack, move, unpack and set up the new suite so it feels familiar, and arrange donation and disposal for what is not coming along. We coordinate with retirement residences on move-in times, elevator access and their procedures.
We keep the person moving and their family informed throughout. When a room or a home needs to be cleared after someone has passed, we do that work respectfully and on the family’s timeline.

What a Cambridge Move Costs
We publish starting prices instead of hiding them. Each package has a starting minimum, and that minimum reflects the crew size, the truck, the time included and the scope of the move. Beyond the included time, the move is billed on the time it actually takes.
A starting minimum is a starting point, not a quote for your home. Your written quote sets out the crew, the truck, the included time and what could change the price, before anything is booked.
In Cambridge, older staircases, basements and outbuildings are often where the time goes, so show us those as well as the main rooms.
Moves with a crew and truck start from $484 before HST — our Student / Single-Room Move (2 movers + 16 ft truck) starting minimum. Larger homes start higher; every package is on our pricing page.
The first 40 round-trip kilometres are included on local moves. Additional mileage/travel charges may apply outside the local area.
Every Stallion move includes basic coverage at $0.60 per pound ($1.32 per kilogram) per article, subject to the terms of your moving agreement, at no additional charge. It is not full replacement-value protection, so check what your home or tenant insurance already covers and tell us about high-value items before the move.
Assessment First
Photos or a short video of the rooms, the stairs, the basement and any garage or shed give us most of what we need. For a large home or a senior downsize, a virtual or in-home assessment is often the better starting point.
Bedroom count alone does not tell us the size of a move. A two-bedroom condo with a storage locker, a full basement workshop or a garage of tools is a different job from a sparsely furnished two-bedroom, and we would rather see it than guess.

Access Details That Shape a Cambridge Move
- Stairs and doorways in older homes: tell us about tight turns, narrow doors and basement stairs so we can plan dismantling.
- Slopes: some streets and driveways near the river valleys are steep. In winter, grade and ice affect how safely a loaded dolly can be moved.
- Parking: in the older town centres, driveways can be short or absent. Tell us where a truck can legally stop.
- Walk-ups: many apartment buildings have no elevator, so the number of floors and the stairwell width matter.
- Elevators and loading areas: where there is an elevator, ask whether it must be booked and where movers should load.
- Condo and complex rules: move-time windows, notice and certificate-of-insurance requests are common. Ask for them in writing.
Beyond Cambridge
Cambridge moves often continue to Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Brantford or other nearby communities, and the highway links make that straightforward. Moves elsewhere in Ontario, or further, are planned case by case.
Our normal operating area is approximately 160 km, depending on routing and job requirements. Selected extended-zone Ontario moves beyond it are available by arrangement, assessed individually and quoted honestly.
