SMALL MOVES

Small Moves — Apartments, Condos and Single Items

A senior's suite, an apartment, a condo, a townhouse, a few rooms, some furniture or an in-home move. Small moves are our specialism, not our overflow.

A few details is all we need to come back to you with something real.

Small moves are the size of job Stallion does most: a senior moving into a residence or a smaller home, an apartment, a condo or a townhouse, a few rooms out of a larger house, or a single piece of furniture. Nothing here is treated as filler work.

Most moving companies are built around the full-house move, and a small job is what they fit in around it. That is why a two-room move so often gets a vague quote, a late arrival, or a minimum charge that makes no sense.

We built the business the other way round. Smaller moves are what we do best and most often, which is why we can staff them properly and turn up when we said we would.

Small move? Perfect.

How it works

From Quote Request to Moving Day

Every move is different, so we confirm the scope before finalizing the plan. Here is what happens, step by step.
  1. Start

Tell us what you know through the quote form or a phone call. You do not have to know every detail before you start.

  2. Show Us

Send photos, a short video or a shared Drive folder, or book a virtual or in-home visit. Our emails guide you through what to send.

  3. Quote

You receive a written quote package to review and sign. Every move is different, so we confirm the scope before finalizing the plan.

  4. Move Day

A careful, methodical crew protects your home and belongings, with the day planned so nobody is rushing off to the next job.

What Counts as a Small Move

Effectively anything below a full large house — and quite a lot that is not a "move" at all in the usual sense.

  • An apartment or condominium suite
  • A retirement-residence, assisted-living or long-term-care suite
  • A townhouse
  • A few rooms out of a larger house
  • A single item — a piano bench to a sofa to a fridge
  • An in-home move, where nothing leaves the address
  • A partial move, before or after the main one
  • A pick-up and delivery from a store or a marketplace seller
  • A small office or professional practice

Why Small Moves Still Need Planning

A small move goes wrong in the same places a big one does: the stairwell turn, the elevator booking, the item that will not fit through the door assembled, the parking. The difference is that on a small move those problems eat a much larger share of the day.

So we still ask the questions. Send us photos and we will tell you what the move actually needs rather than guessing on the phone.

Booking Minimums, Honestly Explained

Sending a crew and a truck to an address has a cost floor whatever the size of the load, so like every mover we have a minimum booking. We would rather tell you that plainly on this page than have it appear at the end of a phone call.

The published minimum and what it covers are on our pricing page, and your written quote states it before you commit. No mover who declines to discuss minimums before booking is doing you a favour.

The Things People Are Surprised We Do

  • Move one sofa from a marketplace seller to your living room
  • Rearrange a whole floor so a ground-floor bedroom becomes possible
  • Take a dining set to a daughter in another city
  • Move a workshop out of a basement before flooring goes in
  • Deliver donations and take away what nobody wants
  • Move a small office over a weekend so Monday works

What a Small Move Includes

  • A crew and truck sized to the actual job, not to a template
  • Blankets, wrap and straps — furniture protected as standard
  • Disassembly and reassembly where an item needs it
  • Careful placement at the other end rather than a drop in the hall
  • A written quote that states the minimum booking up front
  • Packing help if you want it, and none if you do not

Questions Families Ask Us

Is my move too small for you?

Almost certainly not. In-home moving in particular is as much or as little as you need, and no job is too small. There is a minimum booking, which is stated on our pricing page and in your quote before you commit.

Can you move a single item?

Yes — single-item and furniture moves are routine work for us, including pick-ups from stores and marketplace sellers. Tell us what it is, where it is, where it is going, and what stairs or doorways are involved.

Do you charge the same hourly rate on a small move?

Our published rates and packages are on the pricing page and apply the same way regardless of size; what changes is the crew, the truck and the hours the job actually needs. There is no small-job penalty invented at the point of quoting.

How quickly can a small move be booked?

It depends on the calendar. Smaller moves are generally easier for us to fit in than large ones, so it is worth asking — but we will not promise a date before we have looked. Our short-notice page explains how that works.

Tell Us What You Need Moved.

Even if it is one item, or you are not sure it counts as a move. Small is what we are for.
