A few details is all we need to come back to you with something real.

Stallion moves homes of every ordinary shape: a first apartment, a condo with a booked elevator, a townhome with a tight staircase, a family house, and larger homes whose contents need more than one truckload. Every one of them starts the same way — by understanding what is actually moving.

A house move is the one everybody has an opinion about, usually formed by a bad experience. The crew arrived late, nobody had asked about the stairs, and the day ran into the evening.

Almost all of that is a planning failure rather than a labour one. The hours a move takes are decided before anybody picks anything up: by access, by what needs dismantling, by whether the packing is genuinely finished, and by whether the crew knew what they were coming to.

We plan the move before the truck shows up.

How it works

From Quote Request to Moving Day

Every move is different, so we confirm the scope before finalizing the plan. Here is what happens, step by step.
  1. Start

Tell us what you know through the quote form or a phone call. You do not have to know every detail before you start.

  2. Show Us

Send photos, a short video or a shared Drive folder, or book a virtual or in-home visit. Our emails guide you through what to send.

  3. Quote

You receive a written quote package to review and sign. Every move is different, so we confirm the scope before finalizing the plan.

  4. Move Day

A careful, methodical crew protects your home and belongings, with the day planned so nobody is rushing off to the next job.

Every Kind of Home

  • Apartments — walk-ups and buildings with elevators
  • Condos — elevator bookings, loading docks and building rules
  • Townhomes — narrow stairs, landings and shared parking
  • Houses — semis, detached homes, basements and garages
  • Larger and multi-load homes — planned as more than one load where the volume needs it
  • Local moves across Waterloo Region and regional moves across Southern Ontario

Larger Homes and Multi-Load Moves

Bedroom count is a starting point, not a measurement. Two large family homes can hold very different amounts, so larger homes are planned from an assessment — photos, a video walkthrough, or a visit — rather than a guess.

Where the volume needs it, the move is planned as more than one load or with a larger truck arranged for the day, and your written quote says which. Trucks are rented or arranged for each move to suit its size.

Packing, If You Want It

Some people pack every box themselves; others want the kitchen done, or the whole home. Packing and unpacking can be added to any residential move, and packing supplies are charged as used.

What We Work Out Before Quoting

  • The real inventory, from photos or a video walkthrough
  • Access at both ends — driveway, stairs, elevator, parking, long carries
  • Which items need dismantling, and which need a different route
  • Appliances, and whether they are being disconnected and by whom
  • What is going to storage, to family, to donation or to disposal
  • How much packing is actually going to be finished by the day
  • The crew size and truck the job needs to run to time

Furniture Protection as Standard, Not as an Upsell

Blankets, wrap and straps are how furniture is supposed to travel. Pieces are wrapped before they leave the room, loaded in tiers and strapped so nothing shifts on the road, and mattresses go in covers rather than on the floor of the truck.

Our moving standards page sets out how we work in more detail. It describes our own practice and is not an accreditation.

The Day Itself

A well-run house move has a shape: a walkthrough on arrival so everyone agrees what is going and what is not, protection down, the truck loaded in a deliberate order, then an unload sequenced so the beds are assembled and the kitchen usable before the crew leaves.

What we will not do is leave you with a hallway of boxes and a bed in pieces because the clock ran out. If the plan is slipping, we tell you while there is still time to make a decision about it.

Moving With Children or Pets in the House

Both are entirely normal and both are safer with a plan. Doors get propped, ramps and dollies are in constant movement, and a curious child or a nervous cat in a doorway is a genuine hazard on a moving day.

The usual answer is one room kept closed and out of the loading path, or arrangements made for the busiest part of the day. Tell us and we will work around it.

Townhouse Moves

A townhouse is a house move with an apartment building's access problems. The floor area is ordinary but the staircase usually is not: narrow, two flights, a turn at a landing, and often a basement level as well. That is where the hours go, not the packing.

In a townhouse complex the parking is the other half of the job. The nearest legal stopping point is frequently a row or two away, and a carry repeated forty times is a real and entirely predictable cost in time.

So for a townhouse we ask for photographs of the staircase and its turns, roughly how far it is from the parking area to your door, and whether visitor parking or the fire lane can be used on the day. Those three answers decide the crew size and the duration, and they are much better settled a week beforehand than at the ramp.

What a Residential Move Includes

  • A planning conversation and a written quote before you commit
  • Blankets, straps and standard padding and wrapping as standard; packing supplies charged as used
  • Floor and doorway protection where it is needed
  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds and furniture
  • A deliberate load and a sequenced unload
  • Placement of furniture where you want it, not where it lands
  • Packing, unpacking and disposal help if you want it

What a Residential Move Costs

Better information = a better estimate. Your written quote is based on the assessed volume, access and crew — the published packages are where it starts.

Moves with a crew and truck start from $484 before HST — our Student / Single-Room Move (2 movers + 16 ft truck) starting minimum. Larger homes start higher; every package is on our pricing page.

The first 40 round-trip kilometres are included on local moves. Additional mileage/travel charges may apply outside the local area.

Questions Families Ask Us

How big a home can you move?

Apartments, condos, townhomes and houses, including larger homes. Larger homes are assessed first — photos, a video walkthrough or a visit — so the crew, the truck and whether it is one load or more are planned before the day rather than discovered on it.

Do you move townhouses?

Yes, and they are among the moves we do most. A townhouse is an ordinary-sized home with a difficult staircase and awkward parking, so we ask for photographs of the stairs and their turns and roughly how far the carry is from the parking area. Both are priced in rather than discovered on the day.

Will you give me a fixed price or an hourly rate?

Our published rates, packages and how they apply are on our pricing page, and your written quote sets out exactly what applies to your move — before HST. What we will not do is quote a number without asking about inventory, access and stairs, because that number would be fiction.

Do we need to be finished packing?

Ideally, yes — unfinished packing is the single most common reason an hourly move runs long. If you are not going to finish, tell us in advance and we will either build packing into the plan or bring the crew to handle it.

Can you disconnect the washer and the stove?

We move appliances and can handle basic disconnection and reconnection of standard water and electrical hook-ups. Appliances take extra preparation and handling, so tell us about each one when you ask for a quote — they are part of the scope and can add time and charges. Gas connections must be handled by a qualified technician — that is not a mover's job and we will not pretend otherwise.
