KITCHENER, ONTARIO
Kitchener Movers for Homes, Condos and Senior Moves
Moving in Kitchener With Stallion
Stallion serves Kitchener as part of our home market in Waterloo Region. We move households of every ordinary size here, and we specialise in senior moves: the retirement-residence move-in, the downsize out of a long-held family home, and the move a family is coordinating together.
Kitchener is the largest city in the region, with about 257,000 residents at the 2021 Census, and its housing reflects decades of growth: older homes near the core, post-war neighbourhoods, townhouse developments, newer subdivisions, and a growing number of mid- and high-rise buildings downtown and along the ION corridor. That range is exactly why we assess before we quote.
Our starting prices are published, every move is planned from real information about your home, and because we work locally and regionally, a move that starts in Kitchener and ends in Waterloo, Cambridge or further afield is one job with one crew.

- Condos
- Retirement suites

Kitchener Neighbourhoods and Homes We Plan Around
Downtown Kitchener and the streets around Victoria Park hold much of the city’s older housing: brick semis and detached homes from the early twentieth century, many with steep, narrow staircases, tight front halls and basements with low headroom. Pianos, sofas and dressers in these homes often need a planned route out, and sometimes dismantling.
The ION light rail runs along King and Charles Streets through downtown and on towards Fairway, and much of the newer condo building in Kitchener has gone up along that corridor. Moves there usually mean a booked elevator, a loading bay and limited places for a truck to stop, so the loading plan is settled before the day.
Further out, established neighbourhoods such as Forest Heights and Stanley Park, and newer south-end areas around Doon, Huron and Williamsburg, are mostly detached houses and townhouse complexes. The work there is less about stairs and more about driveways, visitor parking rules and the length of the carry. Many of the senior moves we plan in Kitchener start in one of these long-held family homes and end in a condo or a retirement suite.
Residential Moving in Kitchener
Most Kitchener moves we plan are ordinary household moves: a family changing houses, a couple going from an apartment to a first home, or someone moving into a condo downtown. The work is the same careful work each time, but the plan changes with the building.
Houses
Detached homes and semis of every era. Our sweet spot is senior moves, apartments, condos, retirement suites, townhomes and family homes up to four bedrooms. Larger or unusually complex moves are reviewed individually. Older homes often mean narrower stairs and doorways; newer ones often mean a longer carry from the truck to the door.
Townhomes
Freehold and condominium townhouses, where shared driveways, visitor parking and complex rules decide where the truck can stand.
Apartments and condos
Walk-ups, mid-rise and high-rise buildings, including the newer towers downtown. Elevator bookings and loading areas are planned before the day.
Retirement residences
Suite move-ins and moves between residences, planned around the residence’s own move-in procedures and times.

Senior Moving in Kitchener
People. Possessions. Peace of Mind.
A senior move is not simply a smaller household move. It is often the end of decades in one home, and it deserves patience, a clear plan and people who explain what is happening. We work at the pace of the person whose home it is.
In Kitchener that frequently means planning a move into a retirement residence or a smaller apartment: measuring what will fit the new suite, deciding with the family what goes, packing, moving, setting up the new home so it feels lived-in on the first night, and arranging donation or disposal for what is not coming along.
Families are often coordinating from different places. We keep everyone who needs to know informed, and one point of contact at Stallion keeps the pieces together. When a room needs to be cleared after a death, we do that work quietly and respectfully, on the family’s timeline.
- Move planning and a clear timeline
- Retirement-residence coordination
- Downsizing help, room by room
- Packing and unpacking
- Donation drop-offs and disposal
- Setting up the new suite
- In-home moves, such as moving a bedroom to the main floor
- End-of-life room clearing, handled sensitively
- Keeping family members informed
Start Your Kitchener Move
Tell us about the move — rooms, access at both ends, dates and any specialty items. Photos or a short video help us plan the right crew and truck.
What a Kitchener Move Costs
We publish starting prices instead of hiding them. Each package has a starting minimum, and that minimum reflects the crew size, the truck, the time included and the scope of the move. Beyond the included time, the move is billed on the time it actually takes.
A starting minimum is a starting point, not a quote for your home. Your written quote sets out the crew, the truck, the included time and what could change the price, before anything is booked.
For a Kitchener move, the things that most often change the package are the building type, the stairs or elevator, and how far the truck can park from the door.
Moves with a crew and truck start from $484 before HST — our Student / Single-Room Move (2 movers + 16 ft truck) starting minimum. Larger homes start higher; every package is on our pricing page.
The first 40 round-trip kilometres are included on local moves. Additional mileage/travel charges may apply outside the local area.
Every Stallion move includes basic coverage at $0.60 per pound ($1.32 per kilogram) per article, subject to the terms of your moving agreement, at no additional charge. It is not full replacement-value protection, so check what your home or tenant insurance already covers and tell us about high-value items before the move.
Assessment First
Send us what you can. Photos of each room and the entrance, or a quick video, usually tell us enough to recommend the right crew and truck. For a larger home or a senior move with a lot of downsizing involved, a virtual or in-home assessment may be the better first step.
Bedroom count alone does not tell us the size of a move. A two-bedroom condo with a storage locker, a full basement workshop or a garage of tools is a different job from a sparsely furnished two-bedroom, and we would rather see it than guess.
- Photos of each room, the entrances and where a truck can stop
- A short video walkthrough, filmed on your phone
- A virtual assessment on a video call
- An in-home assessment, where the size or nature of the move calls for one
Access Details That Shape a Kitchener Move
- Elevator buildings: ask your property manager whether the elevator must be booked, for how long, and whether it is padded. Book it early.
- Loading docks and loading areas: find out where movers are expected to load and whether there is a height limit on an underground bay.
- Parking: tell us where a truck can legally stop. On streets along or near the ION line, the stopping options can be limited, so a loading plan matters.
- Walk-ups: stairs, landings and door widths decide which furniture needs to come apart.
- Condo rules: many corporations set move times, require notice, or ask for a certificate of insurance. Ask for their move-in rules in writing.
- Driveways: a shared, sloped or narrow driveway, or a long walk to the door, changes the time. A photo from the street helps.
Beyond Kitchener
A Kitchener move does not have to end in Kitchener. We regularly continue to Waterloo, Cambridge and nearby communities, and we plan moves elsewhere in Ontario, or further, case by case.
Our normal operating area is approximately 160 km, depending on routing and job requirements. Selected extended-zone Ontario moves beyond it are available by arrangement, assessed and quoted individually.

Kitchener Moving Questions
We live in an older house near downtown Kitchener. Will our furniture fit down the stairs?
Often it will, but older Kitchener homes can have steep, narrow stairs and tight turns. Send photos or a short video of the staircase and the larger pieces, and we will tell you in advance what needs to come apart and how we plan to get it out.
Can you move a parent from a Kitchener house into a retirement residence?
Yes, and it is one of the moves we plan most. We help decide what fits the new suite, pack, move, set up the room so it feels familiar, and arrange donation or disposal for what stays behind, working around the residence’s move-in times.
How much do movers cost in Kitchener?
It depends on the crew, the truck, the time the move takes and what is involved. Our starting minimums are published on our pricing page, and your written quote confirms the details for your home before anything is booked.
Do you help seniors move in Kitchener?
Yes. Senior moves are our specialty: planning, downsizing, packing, the move itself, setting up the new home and arranging donation or disposal. We work with families and with retirement residences on the details.
Can you move me into or out of a Kitchener condo or apartment?
Yes. Tell us about the elevator booking, the loading area, any height limit and the building’s move-in rules, and we plan around them.
How early should I book a Kitchener move?
As early as you can, especially for month-end dates and the busier warmer months. If you are waiting on a building’s elevator booking or a closing date, get in touch anyway and we will plan around it.
Do you offer packing?
Yes. We can pack the whole home, just the kitchen and fragile items, or unpack and set up at the other end. Packing supplies are charged as used.
How do you estimate the size of my move?
From photos, a video, a virtual assessment or an in-home visit. Bedroom count alone does not decide it: basements, garages, storage lockers and how full each room is all matter.
Do you move from Kitchener to other cities?
Yes. Moves to nearby communities are routine, and our core service area is Waterloo Region and surrounding Ontario communities, with selected extended-zone Ontario moves available by arrangement. Our service-area page shows where we work.
