STUDENT MOVES

A few details is all we need to come back to you with something real.
Student moving in Waterloo Region has one defining feature: everybody does it on the same two days. Around the end of April and the end of August, whole neighbourhoods, loading zones and elevators are competing for the same hours.
That is manageable if it is planned and miserable if it is not. Booking early matters more here than anywhere else we work.

Move Day
A careful, methodical crew protects your home and belongings, with the day planned so nobody is rushing off to the next job.
The Lease Turnover Reality
On turnover days the constraint is never the volume — a student move is usually small — it is access. One service elevator serving a whole building, a loading zone with six trucks wanting it, and a hard checkout time.
Book the elevator the day you know your dates, and tell us the window. We will size the crew to it and aim for the earliest slot we can.
- Book the elevator as soon as your dates are confirmed
- Find out the building's permitted move hours
- Establish where the truck can legally stand
- Ask about the posted height clearance of any underground bay
- Check whether the building wants a certificate of insurance
- Be packed before the day — on a short window there is no slack
What a Student Move Usually Is
- A residence room to an apartment, or the reverse
- A shared house to a shared house
- One bedroom out of a shared unit
- A run to or from a storage unit over the summer
- Furniture collected from a marketplace seller on the way
- A parent's house to a first apartment
Storage Over the Summer
A common student pattern is a move into storage in the spring and out of it in the autumn. We do not operate storage facilities, so the unit is yours to rent — but we can move you into it and out of it, and having a fixed drive-up unit rather than a fifth-floor locker makes both days far cheaper.
Ask the facility about drive-up access and door dimensions before you rent.
Being Honest About Cost
We are not the cheapest way to move a student room, and we will not pretend to be. Two friends and a borrowed pickup is cheaper, right up to the point where a mattress goes down a stairwell and a door frame does not survive it.
What we offer is a crew that turns up on the date it said, on the busiest days of the year, with the furniture protected. Our pricing page sets out what things cost, minimum booking included.
What a Student Move Includes
- A crew and truck sized to a small load and a short window
- Blankets, wrap and straps — furniture protected properly
- Mattress covers
- Disassembly and reassembly of beds and desks
- A pick-up on the way if you have bought something
- Storage-unit runs in either direction
- A written quote stating the minimum booking before you commit

Questions Families Ask Us
How early should I book a turnover-date move?
As early as you possibly can. The end of April and end of August are the busiest days of the year in Waterloo Region and they fill up. If your dates are flexible by even a day or two either side, tell us — it usually makes the day easier and shorter.
Can you move just my bedroom out of a shared house?
Yes, that is a routine small move. Tell us the floor, the stairs or the elevator, what furniture is yours, and whether you will be packed. There is a minimum booking, stated on the pricing page and in your quote.
Do you have storage?
Not our own to rent you. For a self-storage unit, rent it yourself and we will move you into it and out of it — ask the facility for drive-up access and the door dimensions, because both make a real difference to the cost of the day. For a portable container, the container comes from a third-party provider and we load it, unload it, and rent you the pads and straps that protect what is inside. See our storage page for how the two sets of charges divide up.
Are you the cheapest option?
No, and we say so. We are a professional crew with protected furniture and a kept appointment on the busiest days of the year. If price is the only consideration, a truck rental will be cheaper — we would rather you knew that than felt misled.
