A few details is all we need to come back to you with something real.
Packing a senior move is not the same job as packing a family move. There is more that is fragile, more that is irreplaceable, more that has to be decided about before it can be boxed, and far less room at the other end to absorb a mistake.
There is also, very often, a person watching their own belongings being wrapped, which is a reason to work at a pace and with an explanation rather than in silence at speed.
We pack as much or as little as you want — the whole house, or just the kitchen and the china while the family does the rest.

How it works
From Quote Request to Moving Day
Start
Tell us about the move, whether it is your own or a parent’s. You do not have to know every detail before you start.
Show Us
Photos, a video, or a virtual or in-home visit — whatever is easiest for the family. Our emails explain exactly what to send.
Quote
A written quote package the family can read together and sign. We confirm the scope before anything is finalized.
Move Day
A patient, methodical crew that works at a comfortable pace for the person moving, with the day planned so nobody is rushing.
The Things That Need Real Care
- China, crystal, stemware and dinner services
- Framed photographs, artwork and mirrors
- Lamps, clocks and figurines
- Medical equipment and mobility aids that must arrive working
- Documents, jewellery and small valuables — kept with the family, not on the truck
- The things that look ordinary and are not replaceable
Labelling That Actually Helps at the Other End
A box marked "kitchen" tells you very little when the new kitchen is a third of the size and there are eleven of them. We label by destination room and contents, so unpacking can be sequenced — the kettle, the kitchen chair and the bedding first, the ornaments last.
On a senior move this matters more than anywhere else, because the first evening in the new place is what sets the tone for the whole transition.
Packing and Downsizing Together
On most senior moves these are the same conversation. There is no point carefully packing a set of dishes for a suite with one cupboard, so we pack against the new space rather than against the old one — which means measuring first.
What is not going can be sorted into family, donation, sale and disposal as we work, so it is not a separate project afterwards.
Unpacking and Put-Away
Unpacking is where a small space is won or lost. We put things where they belong rather than onto countertops: dishes into the cupboards, clothes into the closet, bathroom things into the bathroom, bed assembled and made.
Packing waste leaves with the truck, so the suite is a home at the end of the day rather than a recycling depot.
What Packing Can Cover
- Full-home packing, or just the rooms you want
- Proper cartons, paper, wrap and dish packs
- Fragile and specialty packing for china, art and glass
- Labelling by destination room and contents
- Disassembly of furniture and fittings that need it
- Unpacking and put-away at the new address
- Removal of cartons and packing waste when we are finished

What Families Tell Us
Brett and his team are always professional and caring, I feel as if they would treat each person they help move as their own Grandparent. They respect guidelines surrounding move times for our building, and make sure each piece they move is treated with care and concern.

I had Stallion Movers today to move my dad from his home to a retirement home and am so pleased with their professionalism, punctuality and friendliness. Brett and Mitch were so careful getting around the items that weren't being moved. They were very thorough and moved quickly. Also Wendy in their office was extremely helpful and patient with all my questions and emails. I highly recommend them for any service you need that they provide. They came highly recommended so I didn't even get other quotes and that was the right decision. Thank you!

Wow. Excellent service, clean, professional, timely etc. We needed to move my mother to a senior's residence and her stuff. The residence recommended 2 services and I elected Stallion - possibly (likely) the other may be as good but Stallion were exceptional. I would highly recommend them for any move not just a senior transfer...

Great company, prompt and professional. I have used Stallion Movers twice to move my parents into retirement residences. They are professional, and super easy to deal with and understand and respect the protocols with senior residences. I highly recommend them.

Questions Families Ask Us
Can we pack some of it ourselves?
Absolutely, and many families do. A common split is that the family handles books, linens and clothing while we take the kitchen, the china and the fragile items. Tell us what you want to keep and what you would rather hand over.
How far ahead of the move should packing happen?
Usually the days immediately before, so life is not lived out of boxes for a fortnight — but a senior move often needs the sorting and downsizing to start weeks earlier. Our senior move planning page sets out the sequence.
Should we pack jewellery, documents and medication?
Keep those with you rather than on the truck: identification, wallets, keys, current medication, jewellery, and any document you would not want to look for in a box. Tell us what is set aside so nobody packs it by accident.
Do you supply the boxes?
Yes — proper cartons, dish packs, paper and wrap. Supermarket boxes are the most common cause of a crushed box in a stacked truck, and on a move with irreplaceable things in it that is a false economy.
